Smile

Hey ya'll!

Yay for humpday!  Wednesday is always a good day for me.  Two days closer to the weekend.  I'm still surprised at how nice my week has been.  I keep waiting for something to happen, but am hopeful that it won't.  My sister and her husband and my "fur nephew" will be up for the Labor Day weekend, and I'm just thrilled!

So, I created this pretty little thing on Monday evening.  Check it!

I keep trying to join in on the Mojo Monday sketches, every week, but haven't had time.  I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity this week though.  I'm going to stick this in my friends' daughters backpack next time she's over to hang out, so that she'll find it at another time.  I hope she likes it.  I love how bright and cheerful it is.

I'll be back tomorrow with the first FYI challenge for the month of September.  I can't wait to share all of the news with you!

Hugs!

BOO!

Hi everyone!

I hope you're having a good start to your week this week.  I know it's only Tuesday, but by now I can always tell how the rest of my week is going to go. lol  So far, I'm having a fantastic week, thank goodness.

I have another card to share today.  I'm not sure what to think about it just yet, but I'll share it anyway.

The owl is absolutely adorable, and I love the banner, but it seems a bit plain to me.  I may have to take it apart as well, and tweak some stuff on it, to get it more to my liking.  It is my first Halloween card of the year, and for that, I'm happy.  I'm going to enter this into the following challenges:

Inkspirations Color Challenge #84 - Concord Crush, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango & Whisper White
Sketchbook Saturday #26 - Sketch

Hope you'll check back on Thursday for our next FYI challenge!  I'll be back tomorrow with another something fun.

Hugs!

Feel Better

Hi ya'll!

Did you have a good weekend?  It was another hot one for us here in DFW, but we managed to stay cool in the pool.  I love having a pool.  My brother in law was in town for a ministry conference, so it was nice to spend some time with him as well.  I did get to crop on Saturday night at my friend Joni's.  We had such a blast.  She's truly a blessing in my life.

I got a couple of cards put together, but this one is the one I liked most.

I'm sure by now, ya'll know how difficult it is for me to create masculine cards.  My friend helped me with some of the elements of this card as well.  This time he chose the colors chocolate, red and tan (for which I used kraft again), and buttons.  He also wanted me to create a masculine card.  This isn't the original card I put together first.  I did take it apart and add a couple of things before I was truly happy with it.  I think it turned out ok.  It just so happens that recently one of my transportation contacts was injured while playing basketball at a family bbq, and wound up in a coma from a concussion.  He's awake and coherent now, but it was a reminder of how quickly things can alter ones life, and another huge reminder of how short life can be.  My supervisor and I agreed that we should send him a card.  I'm going to enter it in the following challenges:

Crazy4Challenges #102 - Masculine
Cards 4 Men #17 - Anything Goes
Colour Create #78 - Kraft, Red & White
Papertake Weekly 8/23 - Dies

It's back to work for me today, but I will be busy in the evenings this week creating some stuff for a special order.  I don't normally take orders, but my friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse.  Dang peer pressure. lol  I'll be back soon with another card.

Also, before I forget, we've got some new stuff happening over at the FYI blog on Thursday.  I can't wait to share the news, and introduce you to my two new girls.  I'm SO excited!  Don't forget to check back on Thursday to see what all I'm talking about.

Have a great day!
Hugs!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #39

Yola!!

I hope you had a good week, and weekend.  I've been trying to reorganize my closet this weekend, but have lost motivation, and decided to play with my scrappy toys instead.  Anyone else have days like that? lol  Needless to say, it will still be there to finish later.  *sigh*

I'm happy to bring you another Christmas Card challenge.  I love making Christmas cards, and the opportunity to make at least one each week has been a blessing when it comes time to send them out.  Everything is done, and ready to go by the end of November.  Perfect timing, if you ask me.  This weeks challenge is to incorporate a photo into your card somehow.  For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

Now, I don't know about ya'll, but I was kind of stumped at this idea.  I guess someimes my ideas are too good for themselves, as this challenge was my contribution to the list. lol  I was trying to decide what to do, when the light bulb went on.  I remembered printing out some of the pictures, my friend Taj took of Sydney, in different sizes.  I already had the blue music resist piece from a previous project, and thought it would look nice with the photo in front of it, almost like a frame.  I had a friend choose the colors, and embellishments (green, blue, brown and ivory with rhinestones) and then put everything together.  Since his favorite color is green, I tried to use that as the main color, accenting with all of the others.  I tried using a dark brown, but it didn't go as well as the kraft (light brown).  And, did you notice?  There's glitter on it, thanks to the patterned paper I used. lol  I really like how this turned out.  This will be my mothers Christmas card this year.  I think she'll love it!

So, I'm going to ask the same question I did previously.  How many Christmas cards do you have finished this year?  Will you be finished before having to rush around at the end getting them done? lol  Maybe you can find the time to join us for this weeks challenge and get your Christmas card stash started!  I do hope you'll head over to the CCC blog and see what my friends have created for you today.  I'm sure you know by now, they're pretty fantastic.

Have a great day!
Hugs!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #38

Howdy ya'll!

I hope you've had a good weekend.  I certainly did.  I have done nothing but create stuff.  I didn't even leave the house once yesterday.  That almost never happens. lol  It's amazing what happens when your creative mojo kicks into full gear and you just go with it. :)

I have another Christmas Card challenge to share with you today.  This weeks challenge is glitter. *shudder*  I'm not sure I've mentioned this before, but I am totally phobic to glitter.  And when I mean phobic, I MEAN phobic. lol  I'm not sure why though.  I never use loose glitter and aside from the occasional use of Stickles, you won't find any glitter on my projects.  If I need a bit of sparkle somewhere, I use my Sakura Stardust pen.  Needless to say, this weeks challenge was just that, challenging.  I did get a card put together though.  For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

The patterned paper in the background came glittered already.  I just cut it down to size, and added my other elements.  You can see a little bit of it up in the top left corner, but just barely.  I used last weeks Taylored Expressions sketch (TESC144), and last weeks Stampin Sisters In Christ challenge (#102), which was to incorporate music.  I love my results and the look of the card, even though I had trouble with the glitter part. lol

Please keep in mind that all challenges are optional.  Any Christmas/Winter/Holiday card will do.  The idea is to help get your Christmas card stash started.  Also, it is not necessary to use a SCRS stamp on your card, but we sure love it when you do.  I do hope you'll head over to see the wonderful cards that my friends have created for you today.  They're all pretty fantastic, as usual.

Have a great day!
Hugs!

For Your Inspiration Challenge #12

Greetings!!

I'm so glad you've stopped by to check out this months newest FYI inspiration photo.  As I mentioned, it's one of my favorites.  For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

Isn't it gorgeous?!  I lived in Colorado for almost 4 years, and every fall I got to see something similar to this photo.  Those vibrant Aspens set amongst the deep blue sky always makes me smile.  Oh how I miss Colorado.

I do hope you'll head over to the FYI blog to see what my Lovely Lotuses have created for you today.  Maybe you'll even join us for this challenge?  Remenber, you can create any crafty project you like.  There are no limitations.

Have a wonderful day!

Live In The Moment

Howdy!

How is everyone today?  Are you having a good week?  I certainly am.  It's been busy at work, but not too crazy, like normal.  The time passes quickly and I have been able to get out at a decent time, which makes for a better evening. :)

I have another card to share with you.  Check it!

I love this color combo as well!  The pink and blue are a great contrast to the kraft, and the butterfly with the rosette?  LOVE!  This will be a short post as I need to get ready for work.  I've combined the following challenges in my card:

Sweet Sunday Sketch #130 - Sketch (my loose interpretation of)
The Pink Elephant #112 - Stitching (real or faux)
SPCC #113 - Pink Pirouette, Wisteria Wonder, Baja Breeze (I think my patterned paper is actually Pretty in Pink)
The Shabby Tea Room #75 - Polka Dots (I hope mine qualify)

I'll be back tomorrow with this months second FYI photo.  I hope you'll check back to see it.  It's one of my favorites!

Hello

Yola!!

I got some time this weekend to participate in a few extra challenges.  For some reason, my creative mojo decided to go into overdrive, and I was in create mode for most of the day on Sunday.  At least I got caught up on a few DT projects, and was able to play with my toys for more than an hour. :)

Here is the first of several I have to share this week.

I LOVE this color combo!!  The yellow with kraft and white looks so fantastic together, and yellow is always so cheerful.  I think I'll use this combo again soon.  I struggled a bit with the layout, but in the end, it all worked out.  I like how it finally came together.  I've combined the following challenges into this card:

Sketchbook Saturday #24 - Sketch
CR84FN #36 - Yellow, Kraft, Neutral (I used white.)
Stampin Sisters In Christ #102 - Incorporate Music (I embossed the kraft panel under the sentiment with the Tim Holtz music embossing folder.)
Paper Sundaes #82 - Just Saying Hello

That's it for me today.  It's back to work. *sigh*  I'll be back soon with another card.
Hugs!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #37

Hi ya'll!

So, after almost two months of over 100 degree temps and NO rain, I woke up yesterday and it was raining.  Yay!!  Finally.  I don't think we could have taken much more of the drought around here.  Everything is dead.  So sad.  Anyway, enough about that.  I just wanted to share that quick. :)

Today's CCC is Christmas Cheer.  Please keep in mind that the challenge is optional.  Any Christmas/Winter/Holiday card will do.  The idea is to help get your Christmas card stash started.  Also, you do not need to use a SCRS stamp to participate, but we sure love it when you do.  For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

I challenged myself to do a CAS card this week.  I like all of the details on my previous cards, but I wanted to try my hand at another CAS card.  I like how it turned out, and this weeks Annabelle Stamps challenge, which is to use Raspberry, Olive and Orange, was a perfect color combo for me.  I've also used this weeks Fall To Layout sketch (FTL153), which is paired with this weeks CASual Fridays challenge (CFC15).  I think it turned out cute.

We're getting closer to Christmas.  How many Christmas cards do you have in your stash?  I do hope you'll head over to see what the other designers have come up with today.  As usual, they're all very nicely done.

Have  a great day!

Happy Birthday

Hi ya'll!

After working tons of hours last week, I was actually able to play with my toys, at work.  I took it with me because I knew I'd be there until who knew when, and didn't want to get bored sitting around.  I'm posting this card, because it's a masculine card that I actually like.  Check it!

I'm sure by now, you know how I struggle with masculine cards.  They're always SO difficult for me.  This one is a bit "metro", but I still like it.  I doubt my coworker will complain, he reminded me twice last month that his birthday was today. lol  I've kinda used last weeks ColorQ (#96) for my color scheme and am digging the results.

That's all for me!
Hugs!

Christmas Card Challenge Week #36

Hi ya'll!!

This is going to be a short post for me today.  I've worked from 6am to 11pm, everyday, since Tuesday.  I'm completely exhausted, and headed back to bed.  I have another Christmas Card challenge for you.  This week we're recycling.  For this weeks challenge, click HERE.

Can you tell where I tookt his picture?  Yep, out on the steps behind our warehouse, at work.  Gotta do what you gotta do sometimes, eh? lol  So, I loved this challenge.  I had a hard time coming up with something though.  For my recycled part, I used the backing off of some dimensionals that I used up.  I ran them through my Cuttlebug with my Snowflake dies from MFT.  It's a cute card, and I loved this weeks Sweet Stop Sketch (#120).  I also used this weeks Color Throwdown (#153).  All in all, it turned out well, and I have another card to add to my stash.  How many do you have done this year? :)

Please keep in mind that the challenges are optional.  Any Christmas/Winter/Holiday card will do.  You don't have to use a Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp on your card, but we sure love it when you do.  I hope you'll head over to see what the lovely design team, and our new guest designer have created for you today.  They're all really nice, as usual.

Hugs!

For Your Inspiration Challenge #11

Hi everyone!

I have been so stupidly busy that I keep forgetting to post about the For Your Inspiration challenges lately.  We're on challenge #11 already, and I don't think I've mentioned them since challenge #3.  I guess that's what happens when you live at work. lol

Below is the inspiration photo I chose for Challenge #11.

I absolutely LOVE this photo!!  I find it breathtaking.  There's a small spot where the sun seems to be "spotlighting" part of the ruins.  And look at how still and peaceful the water is.  It's like a mirror.  Just gorgeous!

I do hope you'll head over to the FYI blog to check out what my Lovely Lotuses have created, using this photo.  The challenge is open until August 17th.  We'd love it if you joined us.

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs!
